24th Annual North American Dendroecological Fieldweek (NADEF)

The 24th Annual North American Dendroecological Fieldweek (NADEF) will be held at the A.L. Mickelson Field Station near Cody, WY. The fieldweek will run from July 21st through July 29th and registration fees will be $900 US for students and $1050 US for professionals. Students should send a photocopy of their student ID with their registration. Your registration fee includes room and board for the entire week. Registration fees are due by May 30, 2014.
Introductory Group: Joey Pettit (Indiana State University) and Lauren Stachowiak (University of Tennessee) This group
will learn the basics of dendrochronology, including more time spent on site and tree selection, crossdating, detrending, and
understanding chronology development. This group will take the time to survey the techniques of the other projects. Fire History: Peter Brown (Rocky Mountain Tree-Ring Research) and Henri Grissino-Mayer (University of Tennessee) This group will examine the fire history of sites around the Absaroka Wilderness Area.
Sclerochronology: Bryan Black (University of Texas – Marine Science Institute) This group will examine the rings in the shells of fresh water muscles or salt water clams
Dendroecology: Jodi Axelson and Bethany Coulthard (University of Victoria, Tree-Ring Laboratory). This group will investigate tree line dynamics at high altitude sites near the Absaroka Wilderness Area.
Dendroclimatology: Matt Bekker (Brigham Young University) and Justin DeRose (Utah State University) This group will conduct a streamflow reconstruction and examine various methods of quantitative analysis.
